Dispelling the Myths of Hypnosis

Let me explain about hypnosis

Firstly, you cannot make a person do something they don't want to do.

that does of course mean that you have to want to be hypnotised for me to be able to help you.

Secondly, hypnosis is not sleep, it's not being unconscious. What hypnosis is:

  • Is a state of deep relaxation that you can be guided into. You'll be sitting in the chair, with your eyes closed, deeply relaxed. But You'll be aware of what's happening.
  • You'll be listening to my voice. You may also hear sounds inside or outside the room but they won't bother you. they'll just help you become even more relaxed.
  • You may also have occasional thoughts pass through your mind, and amongst those thoughts might be the thought, "am I hypnotised or am I just very Relaxed". If that were to happen then I ask that you just keep an open mind, and follow along with suggestions on the basis that its working

Thirdly you cannot get stuck in hypnosis just as on cannot get stuck in a daydream. If there were an emergency you'd just get up from the chair and leave.

Fourthly, in hypnosis you cannot be made to divulge your innermost secrets, such as your bank pin number for example unless you'd be willing to tell them to me while we sit talking in the office.
