With self confidence (self esteem) we are talking about a range of situations from simple shyness to extreme anxiety.
Whatever your situation, there does exist a pattern to your behaviour, it is not as random as it may seem, and help can be given. The source, or origin of the lack of self confidence is almost invariably completely irrelevant in terms of the treatment.
Thoughts that gave you a lack of self confidence are simply patterns of thinking that you have unwittingly learned to do. We do NOT need to go over the past for hours talking about the 'source' of the problem, however it came about, the old patterns can be unlearned quite rapidly, and new, more resourceful patterns can be learned in their place.

By working with your patterns of thinking, Hypnosis aims to help you to have more flexibility in your behavior, so that rather than engage in the old automated thoughts and feelings that weren't useful, you learn to literally see, hear and experience the world differently - both the outer world and your inner world, that is.
When you gain flexibility and behavioral choice in any situation, you can gain self confidence, and you can gain freedom.
